Shane Collier

Technologist, Scientist, Explorer

I am Shane Collier, Founder of Consolidated Reality, LLC, a consulting firm focusing on the impact of international culture on Information Technology (IT), organizations, and people. In his play As You Like It William Shakespeare wrote:

All the world's a stage, and all the men and women merely players. They have their exits and their entrances, and one man in his time plays many parts…

I am no different, some of my parts include entrepreneur, technologist, inventor, explorer, captain, diplomat, and occasional philosopher. At Texas Instruments (TI) my duties grew from working on the assembly line to software development, and computer operations. As a scientist, my career has taken me from Antarctica, with Texas A&M Galveston, to stroke research at the University of South Florida. While working in the dot-com boom, I had the privilege to participate on core strategy and technology teams helping bring giants such as 3M and Halliburton to the Internet.

Blending science and technology at the Fish and Wildlife Research Institute (FWRI) in Florida I led the team responsible for research data management. I trained captains for Walt Disney World and crewed on sailboats. There have been other activities along the way, and I thirst for more.

This is my Ego site and is intended to reflect who I am. You may agree or disagree with the history and perspectives presented; this is healthy. We all see the world through the lens of our experience. I am no different.

On the Shoulders of Giants

We all stand on the shoulders of giants. Those individuals who have themselves accomplished great things. Freely, they share their experiences and knowledge with us.

Through their struggles we learn and grow, becoming who we are. They have shaped, guided, enlightened, and molded us. We are who we are, have achieved what we have achieved, and can do what we can do because of them. They inspire us to do more than we dreamed was possible.

Often they are unaware of their influence. These are only some of the giants, upon whose shoulders I have built a life.

Thanks to you all. Here There Be Giants!
